ABOUT THE ARTIST

Teddy Hart – Aaktaatseen

Accomplished Northwest Coast artist, educator, and craftsman, Teddy Hart – Aaktaatseen is Raven Frog (Kiks.ádi) Tlingit and a grandchild of the Jilkaat Thunderbird from Klukwan. He specializes in formline, woodworking, metal smithing, canoe journeying, and traditional paddle carving. His artistic journey began in 2015 when he carved his first cedar paddle for an upcoming canoe journey, guided by master carver and mentor Wayne Price.

In 2022, Teddy expanded his craft to include silversmithing, embracing traditional Tlingit formline designs to create elegant earrings, pendants, and bracelets. Each piece is meticulously crafted, reflecting his commitment to honoring his cultural heritage while achieving the highest standards of artistry.

Passionate about preserving and teaching Indigenous art forms, Teddy blends cultural heritage with hands-on craftsmanship, celebrating the beauty of Tlingit art and sharing his cultural stories. He is experienced in leading workshops, managing projects, and supporting community, bringing together artistic mastery and community engagement, and bridging the past and present in every creation.

Each piece is crafted with care, using copper and silver to bring traditional formline designs to life. From bracelets that echo the movement of water to pendants that carry ancient symbolism, my collection celebrates heritage with contemporary elegance.
